What you will learn
AT A GLANCE
We'll get started at 8:00 am with a welcome and introduction
What we hope to achieve: What is a reliable plant, the benefits of a reliable plant, and breaking down some common misunderstandings
A big-picture overview on how to improve reliability: establishing value and gaining support, developing a strategy, engaging with people (culture, education, skills), gaining control of reactive maintenance, developing a disciplined approach to maintenance and operational practices, including the design/purchasing acquire phase, caring for the assets so they remain reliable, utilizing analytics to make data-driven decisions, including the analysis of failure data when the equipment comes to the end of its life (EOL), and optimizing the entire process. We will follow the Asset Reliability Transformation blueprint.
A quick break - stretch the legs and reset the brain
See the future: Utilize condition monitoring to see future problems coming so you can plan, schedule and reduce the impact of failures. We will cover vibration analysis, ultrasound, infrared analysis, motor testing, oil analysis, and inspections.
A longer break - call the plant, tell them you will solve all their problems
Improve the future: How to improve reliability and eliminate waste with precision maintenance (mechanical and electrical) and proactive care (with craftspeople and operators). We will cover common techniques such as precision alignment, balancing, electrical and mechanical fastening, lubrication, cleaning, and more
Lunch - replenish your reserves for the afternoon session
Getting set up for success: How to break out of the "reactive maintenance cycle of doom", setting priorities and assessing risk, defining your asset strategy (maintenance plan), work and spares management, performing root cause analysis, and establishing defect elimination.
We can't make you an expert, but you will have a clear understanding of how these elements fit together and where they fit in the plan. We recommend that you watch the videos before the JumpStart your Reliability Journey workshop and use these sessions as a detailed refresher.
Forum and discussion: Ask questions, clarify gray areas, share stories.
Go home with new purpose and direction, or prepare for the Asset Reliability Practitioner Advocate exam* so you can test your knowledge and be recognized for your new ability to solve poor reliability and save your organization.
Take the two-hour exam (it typically takes less time) with 60 multiple-choice questions related to the topics covered during the day. To be certified you will need to have viewed the on-line lessons (32 hours of distance learning courses) and meet the basic experience requirements (six months time spent in industry dealing with maintenance, reliability, engineering, operations, or management).
THE DETAILED STORY
Our goal with the JumpStart your Reliability Journey™ events is to set you up for success. No, a one-day workshop will not give you all the information to establish a reliability improvement program, but it will prepare you for the challenge ahead, and provide you with the "language" of reliability. You can decide what you should do next - take additional training, engage consultants, or go it alone - but you can do that with your eyes wide open. The workshop does not serve to sell you on training or consulting, it is to empower you to determine the path forward understanding your organization's situation, and the skills and experience that your employees have.
The content delivered in the JumpStart you Reliability Journey™ events is aligned with the Asset Reliability Transformation [ART] process, which is aligned with the Asset Reliability Practitioner [ARP] training and certification program established by the Mobius Institute Board of Certification [MIBoC] Scheme and Technical Committees. This training is delivered all over the world by Mobius Institute, and it can be taken on-line.
The partners who deliver the JumpStart your Reliability Journey™ sessions work with Mobius Institute to deliver training, and with MIBoC to administer the certification. But they have their own, independent mentoring/consulting services - there is no financial relationship between Mobius Institute and the partners in relation to those services or the JumpStart your Reliability Journey™ sessions.
